Hello! I'm Sara Kay; a creative consultant with a focus on developing sustainable systems for the person, organization, and community.
I manage a wide variety of food projects which utilize food instruction to support core curriculum and out-of-school-time mentorship. I also enjoy teaching classroom-based co-curricular cooking lessons with younger students and leading food-based mentorship with older students.
With a background in non-profit management, I work with organizations of all sizes to develop clear mission and vision statements. I excel at taking complicated problems and distilling them into small, actionable items which equip teams to do their best work.
I have a masters degree in Food Studies from New York University where my academic focus was authenticity rhetoric in ethnic cuisine. My most recent project involved analyzing data from 20,000 Yelp reviews as part of a larger discussion around language use and systemic inequity in food consumption. You can find my writing about it in Eater and in The Best American Food Writing 2020, edited by J. Kenji López-Alt.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and color-coordinating my books. Follow my travels on Instagram.
